Some important contributions made by environmental workers to improve the health of the public are preventing environmental health hazards. This job is done by environmental scientists or specialists (such jobs are hazardous materials specialists, or water or solid waste specialists). This is extremely important to keep hazardous materials out of reach of the public and to help maintain clean water for the general population.

Another important contribution is keeping property safe and people from getting sick. This includes the investigation or products so they will not harm individuals, as well as investigation on industrial accidents or occupational diseases to determine if those could have been prevented. This job is completed by health and safety engineers, which are product safety engineers or fire prevention and protection engineers.

There are many other contributions that environmental workers do, many of these jobs go under the publics notice however, are extremely important to maintain the safety and health of the public.

Hello All,

I actually learned a lot of in depth information in my Enviornmental Health course and the environemental workers are constantly improving their means of protecting humans and the environment which is a cycle within itself. With the constant climate change, increased sea level due to the rise in temperature and the releases of gases like Radon into the air from deep within the ground has caused a giant impact on humans and the environment. The environmental workers are constantly working towards ways to improve Greenhouse Gas Effect such as renewable energy, infrastructure improvements and drought-resilient crops. What is the importance of this? Well there is a constant climate denial. The increased awareness and with the ongoing pandemic they play a major role. Below you will find the regulations that OSHA has put in place for environmental services, this also include janitorial staff:

As you can see there are major focus areas to be able to consistently fight SARS-CoV-2 and the routes that needs to take place are important even if they are observed as being small. Environemetnal scientists, environmental sevice workers and many more are fighting alongside the frontline healthcare workers to keep the health of our communities at its best, even when fighting something like the pandemic.
