Literature Review
Saudi Vision 2030 is targeting ambitious goals and objectives for the sake of promoting
and boosting country’s growth and development across various sectors. One of the most
important component of this vision is healthcare sector aiming to enhance the quality of
healthcare services, improve accessibility, and promote innovation and sustainability[1]. In this
section, we will go briefly on the strategies related to healthcare transformation in Saudi Arabia
in alignment with Vision 2030.
Health Sector Transformation Program (HSTP)[2] is one of the main vision realization
programs in Saudi 2030 vision and it was launched to restructure the Saudi health sector,
enhancing its status and capabilities as an effective, integrated, and centered around patients’
health. The HSTP also strives towards transparency and financial sustainability by promoting
public health and disease prevention and implementing modern healthcare paradigms. The
program also aims to facilitate citizen’s access to free health and healthcare services and
insurance. This is accomplished by guaranteeing fair and comprehensive. geographical coverage
across all regions of the Kingdom, expanding e-health services and digital solutions, and
improving the quality of healthcare. In addition, the program will focus on increasing levels of
beneficiary satisfaction by implementing value-based healthcare and international best practices
and enhancing community awareness of traffic safety.
There are many objectives the program is looking for to achieve but the following are the
key ones related to our project
• Improved efficiency of healthcare providers
• Developed infrastructure for revenue management
• Private sector motivated to participate
Also it is worth to mention that one of National Industrial Development and Logistic Program
(NIDLP) focus areas is to localize healthcare imports (Year 2025 target is to increase local content
in Saudi Economy to SAR 1,240 million for all sectors including healthcare)[3]. All of these
objectives can’t be accomplished without supporting local content and promote the industry to
grow and invest in healthcare applications.
