Research Paper: UAS Integration into the NAS (PLG1)

Over the past few years, the FAA and NASA have been developing the future of the National Airspace System (NAS). The Next Generation (NextGen) Air Transportation System and UAS Traffic Management (UTM) System are both projects that are being used to usher in a modernized, integrated NAS that will safely allow UAS and manned aircraft to share the skies.

Create a short paper that gives a thorough description of NextGen and UTM, and how they seek to improve future aviation operations in the NAS. Highlight some of the major issues these projects hope to solve such as:

· Detect, Sense, and Avoid (DSAA)

· UAS lost link scenarios

· UAS integration in uncontrolled airspace

· What human factors issues or challenges do you foresee with the implementation of NextGen, UTM, and the integration of UAS?

· Provide a paper of at least 2 – 3 pages in length.

· Make sure you use reference citations in APA format, with a Reference section to the end of the paper.
