Assumptions/Hypotheses are normally construed based on situations, what one believes in, or conditions happening around them. When it comes to the interpretation of public health evidence, decisions can be influenced by the best available information, resources, and needs and preferences (Vujcich, 2017). In addition, evidence proposes that interventions, theories, and ecological perspectives are more effective than those lacking structure or support of theory or research (Glanz & Bishop, 2010). Moreover, public health evidence is influenced by programs that have been successful, and understanding of health behaviors through strategic planning designed frameworks and public health interventions that can be enhanced through assessment (Glanz & Bishop, 2010). What was one assumption you had about your health issue prior to starting your project? My project focuses on adults’ treatment and awareness of Cardiovascular Disease, but adults are not the only individuals who need to be mindful of (CVD) and its risk factors. Since I have heard the majority of stories of older adults needing assistance and dying from (CVD), I failed to realize how (CVD) can affect young and middle-aged individuals as well. I naturally assumed that those who were too young to worry about (CVD) were not at risk or needed just as much awareness as older individuals. However, young and middle-aged individuals develop heart challenges and need just as much support and resources as this problem is growing more common at earlier ages. Was your assumption validated based on your results or the information gathered? My assumption was validated as awareness of (CVD) needs to be cascaded and monitored at all ages. Implementing prevention among younger individuals are necessary since (CVD) was one of the leading causes of death in younger women (Gooding et al., 2019). This was mainly due to younger women being unaware of (CVD) and its risks. Focusing on one population of individuals was a great starting point for my project, however, after reading several literature articles on the severity of (CVD), promoting heart-healthy behaviors is beneficial for everyone of all ages.
