DB1-Nurse Executive Competencies. Identified strengths and weaknesses by referring to
AONE’s competencies and providing examples. Growth in my communication and relationship
building is described in detail as a strength. Finances and business skills are recognized as areas
of opportunity suggesting additional training and mentoring support (Bayram et al., 2022;
Roussel et al., 2018).
DB2-Leadership Standards and Expectations. Reviewed Joint Commission’s standards and the
role of the nurse executive. An example was provided which included the organization of the
workplace violence team initiated by the director of nursing. The safety gap was recognized by
leadership, allowing them to intervene aligning with Joint Commission’s standards (Lim et al.,
2022; Pallardy, 2013; Roussel et al., 2018).
M4-Organizational Analysis Report. Identified appropriate leaders of the Baylor Scott and
White System. Researched Mission and Vision Statement of the organization. Sent out emails
and requested interviews. Organized interview dates and prepped worksheet for interviews.

communication, May 20, 2024; J.Randles, personal communication, May 20, 2024).
DB-Nurse Executive Competencies-Peer reply: Posted a reply to one peer discussing the
importance of professionalism and the evident gap in the workplace. I shared my experience
with professionalism and discussed our mutual struggles with business and finance (Cao et al.,
2023).
DB-Leadership Standards and Expectations-Peer reply: Posted a reply to one peer discussing
the importance in reducing medication errors and reviewing the excellent work of her CNO to
improve patient safety (Mutair et al., 2021).
Behavior Preferences and Leadership- I wrote a paper explaining my personality type, ESTJ
and identifying my strengths and weaknesses. I am organized and practical, versus emotional
and intuitive. I discussed the value of learning and using personality preferences (Cherry, 2022;
Cherry, 2023; Gallo, 2024; Kennedy et al., 2014; Zarate-Torres & Correa, 2023).
DB-Internal Culture- Identified programs used by the organization such as awarding of encore

to facilitate teamwork. In person communication is preferred to promote improved

collaboration and social interactions between the team (Borkowski & Meese, 2021; Roussel et
al., 2018; Ruben et al., 2021).
DB-Conflict Negotiation- I identified two conflict negotiation methods, collaborating that I use
often, and competing which is not common in my practice. I learned that collaboration has great
outcomes for both teams, using the example of improved throughput for admissions. Regarding
the parking situation, a quick answer would have been better (Barkowski & Meese, 2021;
Morley et al., 2018).
DB-Internal Culture-Peer Reply-I discussed the relevance of autonomy in healthcare while
maintaining boundaries and limitations. Peer recognitions with point systems are enjoyed by the
team (Pursio et al., 2021).
DB- Conflict Negotiation-Peer Reply- I recognized that the accommodating method results in
excellent teamwork, benefiting the patient. Competing can be difficult when trying to provide
care for patients (Schmutz et al., 2019).
Populations-Assessing Needs-I wrote a paper describing the rural town of Llano, Texas in
comparison to Dallas, Texas, recognizing Llano’s limitations while understanding their
economy. I identified that urban communities could benefit from wearable electronic devices
by improving their healthcare outcomes and cutting healthcare costs. As a leader, I would
strategize implementing a mobile healthcare clinic to provide specialty services to the town of
Llano, for their patients who have limited transportation. (About Midcoast Health System – Mid
Coast Health System, n.d.; Baylor Scott & White Clinic – Llano, 2024; Census Profile: Dallas,

Vara, 2022; Wood et al., 2022; Yu et al., 2017).
Assignment Change Force Field Analysis-I described two changes needed within my
department, implementing the Beaker lab system, and adjusting the department matrix to add a
stroke coordinator role. I reviewed the driving and resisting forces for each change and decided
on what was best for the department (Beaker, 2024; Nilsen et.al., 2020; Sergi, 2022).
Interviews- Sally Gilliam- Chief Nursing Officer & Jeff Randles-HR manager (S.Gillam DNP,
