PROCEDURE
1. Obtain and wear goggles
2. Connect the Temperature Probe to LabQuest and choose New from the File menu
3. On the Meter screen, tap Rate. Change the data-collection rate to 0 5 sample/second (interval of 2 seconds/sample) and the data-collection length to 600 seconds. Data collection will last 10 minutes. Select OK.
Part I Freezing Temperature of Pure Laurie Acid
4 Stan heating a 600ml beaker filled with about 400ml of water over a hot plate The hot plate should be on the platform of a ring stand Fasten a test tube clamp over the beaker with water Also, have another utility clamp to hold the temperature probe.
5.Put an empty 150 ml beaker, with a test tube on a milligram balance, make sure to zero this or tare. Ensure that the test tube is dry and clean, not one single drop of water Take the test tube out and put about 2gof lauric acid into it; put the test tube back in the beaker and record the precise mass using all significant figures on a milligram balance
6. Once the hot bath is ready and the water is hot, secure the test tube with launc acid with the clamp that is on top of the beaker Lower the test tube into the water bath Make sure the water level outside the test tube ls higher than the lauric acid level mode the lest tube Heal it up until all launc acid has melted
