The goal chapter is organized by the overarching standards. Discussion Preparation 1. You will need to use your summarized your lesson plan with the adaptation for access and diversity. Here are some preparation tips and examples: ASSESSMENT: the tool you will use to “test” if the lesson was effective ex: worksheet, quiz, activity CRITERIA: a standard by which something can be judged or decided ex: what do they have to do to show they learned? Some examples that came in include: -(setting goals-2nd grade) At the end of the lesson the student will be able to correctly add up the minutes in their tracking sheet in 2 or less trials, with teacher prompts, and state if they met the goal minutes. -(understanding emotion-2nd grade) student will be able to use worksheet #2 and correctly identify one face for each emotion with no more than one prompt from the teacher (have the sheet attached) -(fire safety-kinders) the student will be able to correctly show how to dial 911 on a phone and state their name within 2 trials observed by the teacher -(fire safety-kinders) Students will complete a cut and paste sheet with the 4 steps of a fire drill (stand, walk to line, wait for teacher, stand on playground number x) in one trial with assist from teacher as needed. -(food choices-middle school) Students, as a group, will correctly identify 8 or 10 food choices and place in the correct category based on sugar content for the RDA, (Smart Choices OR  Eat in Moderation) These all tell us what the student needs to do and to what level (measurable) so you can objectively say if they learned! Using “understand” or “show” needs more so that “passing” is based on a true and measurable action. Hope this helps! Lesson Plan for Teaching Kindergarten Dental Hygiene

hygiene practices.
4. Academic Subject: Science
5. Activity Summary: Students will learn about the importance of brushing their teeth and
maintaining good dental hygiene. They will practice proper tooth brushing techniques using a
large model of teeth and a toothbrush. Students will also learn about healthy and unhealthy foods
for their teeth.
6. Adaptation for Equity and Diversity: For students with fine motor skill difficulties, provide an
adapted toothbrush with a larger handle. For visual learners, use videos or picture cards to
demonstrate tooth brushing steps. Ensure all examples and visuals represent diversity in
appearance.
7. Standard Number: 1.1.P
Assessment: Students will demonstrate their understanding of effective dental hygiene practices
by correctly identifying steps for brushing teeth using the large model.
Criteria: Students must correctly demonstrate at least 4 out of 5 key steps (wetting toothbrush,
applying toothpaste, brushing outer/inner/chewing surfaces, brushing tongue, rinsing).
Evidence: By physically demonstrating the proper tooth brushing routine, students show they can
identify the key practices for effective dental hygiene as stated in the standard.
