Why Abortion Should Be Legal and Its Benefits

Abortion is one of the most controversial debates having no baselines of consensus among two polar aspects. The primary argument revolves around death and life although the uncertainty of complication makes it challenging (Fiala, 2019). Some individuals do not believe or support abortion since they see it as murder since it is not human beings’ responsibility to decide who lives or dies. According to them, abortion is a death and life issue with equal supporters from both phases of the debate. Nonetheless, those supporting it focus on one objective, reducing the abortion numbers and making it safer (Ziegler, 2020). The United States constitution allows abortion. Although it is not classified as a belief in Rights, individuals possess reproductive rights and privacy rights, making abortion an enumerated right.

The right to commit abortion focuses on a woman’s decision, and no particular individuals should possess the freedom or liberty of informing them differently. In America, every person must make their own decisions without fear or contradiction, especially the choices people make about their bodies. There are various reasons why people call for abortion to be legalized (Fetrow, 2018). Some of them include sexual abuse, unwanted pregnancy, pregnancy caused by incest or rape, contraceptive failure, or birth control failure. In some instances, abortion is done to curb the birth of a child born with severe medical conditions or defects that could hamper the child’s health.

As American citizens, they are entitled to make decisions or choices from the immunity to live in, the type f car they drive, and the food they take. These are all examples of decisions that individuals can make. Many individuals are questioning why it should be no different when it comes to abortion. A woman’s choice to commit abortion may be caused by several facets, such as incest, rape, or preventing a child from experiencing severe medical conditions. However, irrespective of the decision, it is still their choice (Fetrow, 2018). The belief that people should be allowed to make their own choices shapes their attitudes about abortion. Moreover, this technique or strategy is embedded in many life facets except abortion.

The more successful individuals have been in curbing abortion rights, the more they have intruded into private medical decisions that ought to be made by female members of society and their doctors. Furthermore, another potential explanation is determining whether that choice should be left to a certain group of people (Fetrow, 2018). People can make decisions that impact the way heir live, and this should apply to abortion. The primary reasons behind their determination of any female member of the society to commit an abortion should not be questioned. It is their choice, and no one should hinder it. As a result, abortion should be legalized.

Sometimes, there are severe complications during pregnancy that force the doctors to save the mother’s life. Although it implies the fetus loses their life, some individuals would be better relative o losing both the unborn and the mother’s lives (Fetrow, 2018). Under such circumstances, abortion is justified in the recent past; such complications have been increasing, which has resulted in avoidable deaths. Beliefs and religion are to blame in some instances. Recently, a case emerged in social media, which caused a series of debates (Mølland, 2016). The mother in question was a Jehovah witness follower. She had a rare pregnancy complication that put her life and the life f the unborn in danger. The doctor suggested abortion to save her life. She refused to cite biblical phrases and church teachings. Unfortunately, she lost her life. However, abortion should be legalized since, in the case of the unborn and the mother, it is better to save the mother’s life through an abortion.

Abortion cases are on the rise regardless of the regulations and restrictions, and positions f the laws. For instance, reputable organizations such as WHO have offered data over recent years, suggesting that abortion cases rise when the practice is kept illegal (Kim, 2020). As a result, it has resulted in increased mortality rates among women who softens their vulnerability to sterility or death since most conceive children aren’t prepared to take responsibility. They would always prefer to engage in abortion regardless of its legality (Blackshaw, & Rodger, 2020). There are several reasons for their decisions. Some of them include peer embarrassment, harassment, fear of parents’ wrath, and motherhood’s responsibilities.

Automatically, legalization or criminalization of abortion in society does not impact most cases in practice. There is a major reason why in countries where abortion is illegal, young women always find an alternative to eliminating unwanted pregnancies (Tasset, & Harris, 2018). Usually, they seek help from unlicensed doctors. Instead of letting women suffer and subject themselves to such issues, they need to commit it in controlled environments where they are given proper counseling to empower them psychologically and mentally by professionals ( Levine, 2004). In some instances, it might change their decision, and whether it fails, it guarantees them an opportunity to engage in after termination hence lesser vulnerabilities and dangers. Thus, the legalization of abortion is essential in helping young women have proper counseling and treatment, preventing them from subjecting themselves to dangerous unlicensed medical practices.

Most women who engage in abortion may not be ready to take responsibility since this may be emotionally damaging. Legalizing abortion’s oppositions argue that engaging in abortion may cause lifelong emotional damages or extreme guilt. Nonetheless, putting their child in a lifelong adoption phase equally emotionally disturbing and possesses similar emotional damage similar to abortion (Kim, 2020). Although it mgt appears a reasonable choice for a young woman, it is attached with wearied feelings if abandoning the child for the rest of their life. However, abortion may cause emotional torture to some women; it is less devastating than giving a child for adoption.

In conclusion, Abortion should be legalized since it has many benefits both to society and the mother. In the United States, the mother should be allowed to choose, just like many other issues. Several reasons make a mother engage in abortion. Issues such as rape, incest, unpreparedness to take responsibility, and the fear of the parents’ wrath play a crucial role. Moreover, considering that abortion is illegal in countries, Mothers still engage in unlicensed abortion techniques, hence endangering their lives. Legalizing abortion may help save lives since the mothers can receive counseling and proper treatment. As a result, the legalization of abortion has many benefits to both society and the mother.
