Prompt: For discussion this week, think about and address the four areas listed below. The prompting questions are to help you generate ideas for what you might discuss in each area, but you dont need to feel that you must answer each question like a checklist. However, you should discuss all three areas.
1. Describe yourself as a reader and writer. Do you enjoy reading and writing? If so, what types of reading and writing you enjoy? If not, what types of reading or writing would be most inviting to you?
2. What is the value of reading literature? How can it benefit the average person?
3. What connection(s) do you see between reading and writing? How can one contribute to the other?
4. When scanning a newspaper, magazine, or even Facebook or some other website, what types of articles are you most likely to read? What topics? You might even think of and describe a recent article of any type that youve read. What prompted you to read the article? What was your response to the article?
Tips: Review the Discussion Rubric found in the syllabus! Your initial post should be at least 250 words, should include external research, should demonstrate understanding/insight of the course content, and should demonstrate strong grammar/writing skills. Response posts should be at least 100 words each and should demonstrate a concerted and honest effort to engage with others.
