My love for english started back in middle school when I wrote my first narrative essay, I made a really good creative essay and my teacher told me I had something special. I ended that year with an A in the class because of my reading and especially my writing skills that had improved so much over the years. From then on I kept writing and I kept using advice given by my english teachers to really spark up my writing and make it very good. My senior year of high school I took a creative writing class on top of my english class and I fell in love with it, I found out I really enjoyed reading and writing and I only want to get better. Now that I am in college I have decided to go after an english major and get my teaching credentials and hopefully grow up to be an english teacher and teach kids what I learned about english and inspire them to like english as much as I do. Now that I have explained why I want to be an english teacher it’s time I go through what exactly an english teacher does and their responsibilities. All depending on which grade I teach I could be doing a variety of things for example if I’m teaching little kids I will teach them basic english skills and if I am teaching older kids as time goes on I will start teaching more difficult english skills. Since will be teaching in school and giving out grades I will need to test the students knowledge of english by assigning homework, giving them test, and of course having the writing different types of essays. So my job will be to also give them grades for their work so this job involves lots of grading with it. But this is not a bother because I love english and I Danial2 would love to teach students about my knowledge of english to help them improve their skills like I did. My personality is very creative I love thinking outside the box and think of new ways to learn material, for example if I was trying to figure out if a sentence or story made sense I would read it out loud or change things up to fix it. Also I am a very nice person I don’t get mad or frustrated with people easy and that will help be a very good teacher because I will be able to handle kids and teach them in my way. I take english very seriously and I believe that I can change kids life to a whole new world of language arts. When I was a kid I hated reading and never gave it a chance because it was boring;then I was forced to read and it changed my life for the better. I found that reading was like television in your head and everytime I read I could picture what was going on in my head just by the words in a book. I can use my creative personality to show my students that reading and writing is one of the most creative devices that you can make yourself. In all I know my characteristics and my personality will help me to be a great english teacher and help students and others improve their english skills in a number of ways. Some advantages of being an english teacher is only going to work five days a week and having long breaks for summer and christmas, which is good because my job will not be that stressful. Also an advantage would be that I can be changing kids lives and helping them improve their life and hopefully inspire them to find what they’re good at because of my english class. The disadvantages are all the grading I will have to do and I will have to put up with a lot of annoying students because there’s always that one group of friends who always distract the class. A typical day of school is eight hours and teachers usually have around an hour and a half out of the eight hours for breaks, lunch, and preparation for their class. Now teachers normally Danial3 have holidays, weekends, and summer off; so teachers work roughly around 9 and a half months out of a twelve month year. This can change if a teacher teaches summer school, saturday school, or teaches online courses. The work environment is a very calm place because every school has rules so it will never get to out of control and the teachers won’t have to worry about a negative workplace. There are many school in the world and there are a lot of teachers as well so there is always room for more teachers in and outside schools and educational programs. The requirements to be a teacher are to at least have a bachelor’s degree but masters or doctorate degrees are more preferred, and in my case I need to major in english to get an english degree; and Licensure and certification to be a teacher is required as well. For elementary school teachers their salary is about fifty four thousand a year, for secondary teachers it’s around fifty seven thousand a year, and for special education teachers is about fifty four thousand a well. Other jobs that I can do that are related to being an english teacher are of course any other subject other than english to teach such as math, history,or a science teacher. I really like english and most importantly writing so I can write a book and become an other if I work hard enough or I can write scripts for movies and plays and so on. If i just stick to being an english teacher I can improve my teaching levels as time goes for example if I start teaching middle school I can then move up to teaching junior high, high school, and even go on to teaching english as a college professor. In conclusion my goal in college is to get all the requirements and degrees and be an english teacher when I graduate college.English is by far my favorite subject and i enjoy it alot I cant wait to share my knowledge and my love for english to my future students. Sample Student Coun-120 Career Research Paper I was unsure about the career I wanted to pursue. However, for the purposes of this paper I had decided on a career in marketing, specifically a marketing manager. This was because I consider myself to have a unique vision, and I like that marketing is itself a sort of art form. Consider a Geico commercial, or Nike’s ‘Just Do It’, the idea that my commercial could be of the same status as these is also very appealing. Someone in marketing must promote certain products or services to a customer. This includes effectively balancing the 4 P’s of Product, Price, Place, and Promotion (things like coupons or limited time offers) To do this effectively they must research and analyze consumer interest trends, identify target markets, plan campaigns and develop strategies, manage a team of marketing executives and the budget, as well as monitoring and reporting on the success of marketing campaigns. To go into marketing you must be creative, and good at organizing people and communicating. Thankfully that matches well with my personality assessment. As an ESTJ I can act as a mediating force among my peers, able to offer solid direction amid adversity. That is an important skill when collaborating. Thinkers also respond better to hard data, an important trait to have when marketing requires you to process such data. Finally, I am a very creative person. I spend time writing and reading, and making videos with my friends. Most importantly I have lived as a consumer all of my life, I know what we do and don’t respond well to. My interests align very much with this career. People in marketing value enterprising, conventional, and investigative work environments. Thankfully these interests align very much with my values. I am an enterprising person who is interested in being their own boss rather than working for someone else. So I would fit well answering to people below me rather than above me. As a judge, I like an organized and stable work environment, so that aligns with my values. Finally, upon being investigative, I have always had an interest in history because it is learning about how people interact and why. In short, I have a passion for investigating why people do the things they do. As a marketing manager, the advantage is that every day will be unique. You will constantly be meeting with different suppliers, who are all very unique and interesting to meet. However, the disadvantage of marketing is that it is notorious for being unpredictable in how long you must stay on a particular day. Some nights you may be working until 1, that is the greatest disadvantage of being in marketing. It is also a reactive industry, which also will pressure you and your team. However, even that disadvantage can be turned into a motivator for some. The work environment is an office environment, with occasional meetings, talks with potential clients, and speaking to your employees. A typical day is hectic, as you sign off various contracts, going to meetings, or instructing employees. The typical day is based on what needs to be done. If you can put up with the stress of the work environment, you will be rewarded. A job in this career can average $135,900 per year or $65.34 per hour. A marketing manager will make this salary working full time. The job outlook looks good for someone trying to get into this industry. The % of positions in this industry will increase by eight in the next 10 years. That equates to 21,800 jobs in the 10 years. In addition, If you have the required educational background, this career is relatively easy to find work in. All of that means that this is a rewarding industry that is growing fast. In terms of educational requirements, to be in marketing, you need a bachelor’s degree in marketing or management, and you won’t be required to have a license to be in this career. If you are interested, there are many similar careers. One such occupation is a public relations specialist. They still analyze consumer trends and develop solutions, however the difference is that they create media releases not to sell a product but to maintain a favorable public image for a company. Another similar occupation is a market research analyst. They too are similar to a marketing manager, however instead of managing others they report to a higher up. This career has little room for growth opportunities in the sense of moving to a position higher up on the pay scale, however they do have growth opportunities in the sense of growing your employee base. What I mean is that as a boss, if you’re successful and grow your company you will have more money to build your business. In that way growth is different than most careers. Finally, here are some interesting things I have learned in my research. To start, there are many kinds of marketing, the most unique is known as guerilla marketing. This style of marketing is where the company uses an unconventional type of marketing to maximize reach with minimal resources. This was used by Viacom in the early days of Youtube, as they posted full episodes of their tv shows and pretended that they were pirated. Viacom then thought the episodes they published were pirated and sued youtube over them. That is the disadvantage of guerilla marketing.
