Selection of Country In order to select a country outside of USA, I choose Egypt to travel. Egypt boasts of a spectacularly stunning landscape filled with cultural gems. Sun, sea and sand scattered with a touch of mysterious culture and legacy, the gushing river Nile, prehistoric mountains, massive deserts, world-famous coral ridges to multicultural cities are enough reasons for one to visit Egypt. 2.0. Traveling Details The Important travelling details of my trip are as follows: 2.1. Time of Travel The best time to visit Egypt is in between October and April, because during these months the temperature is cooler, but still pleasantly warm across the country. This will make exploring the busy streets of the beautiful city of Cairo, visiting the Pyramids, and exploring the ancient Pharaonic tombs easy, comfortable and exciting. I traveled Egypt in October 2020. 2.2. 3 Main Cities I had made a complete research before starting my trip that which of the places I wanted to travel in Egypt and I ended up selecting these 3 cities to visit i.e. • • • Cairo Giza Luxor 2.3. 3 Cultural Activities to Participate in The cultural activities that I participated in during my visit to these three cities are as follows: 1. Cairo: Filled with dust and dirt, Cairo will not be an easy city to travel to but this does not mean that my efforts will not be rewarded. Cairo is a wonderful place which has world class places to offer you to visit. The city is situated near the beautiful river Nile and is also considered one of the medieval Islamic city. The place to visit in Cairo was the world famous Egyptian museum which preserves the artifacts of the ancient Egypt. 2. Giza: Who does not know what Giza is famous for? One of my wish to visit Egypt was because of the Pyramids of Giza which are located in the middle of the sprawling landscape of the city but once were considered the tallest structures on the earth before skyscrapers were ever built. The dessert, the echoing wind and the Pyramids together shape such an iconic scene that one cannot forget the charisma of the site. 3. Luxor: 2 Its luxurious landscape is considered as the setting for the incredible monuments. The river Nile is passing through the center of the city making it to divide into two halves. The modern city of Luxor is on the East Bank of the river and the West Bank has the ancient capital of Thebes. This structure of the city gives the visitors a look of the open air museum. The places to visit in Luxor was the temple of Karnak and the numerous tombs. 2.4. 3 Souvenirs to Purchase The souvenirs that I purchased from Egypt were: 1. In the heart of old Cairo, there is the market named ‘Khan El Khalili Bazaar from where I purchased the statues of Pharaoh which is of the cost $40. 2. From the beautiful city of Pyramids, I bought the set of Pyramids from the Topaz Bazaar which costs $50. 3. From the Luxor city, I bought the unique arts and crafts from Sandouk which costs almost $100. 3.0. Reasons for Selecting Egypt 3.1. 3 Important Historical Events Some of the important events in the history of Egypt are as follows: 1. Armed Forces Day, a public holiday is observed in Egypt on October 6 in celebration of the day back in 1973 when the armed forces of Egypt and Syria launched an attack on Israel. 2. International Festival for Experimental Theater in Cairo, which is a long running event held at all the venues all over the city. 3. He was born in Luxor and lives there.one of his famous novels is ‘God’s Land of Exile” which is listed for Arabic Booker Prize. 3.3. Socially Responsible Tourism I made my trip socially responsible by keeping in mind the 6 goals of SRT. 3 4.0. Budget Details of Trip The expenses of the trip are listed in detail in the given table: Air Tickets Hotel rent In Cairo Day tour to Cairo, Egyptian Museum and Khan Khalili Bazaar for 8 hours Souvenir from Cairo Hotel rent in Giza Day tour to Giza, The Pyramids and Topaz bazaar for 7 hours. Challenges in Communication I did not faced any challenges related to the verbal communication. Because in Egypt people speak the standard Arabic language and my mother language is Arabic too. So, I did not feel any problem related to my communication. I did not face any cultural shock while visiting Egypt because more or less our cultures are same and we share the sale cultural values. I found the people of Egypt quite friendly and when the hosts people get to know that the visitor is familiar with their language they become comfortable with the tourists. Because they get the sense that the tourists has the knowhow of their culture and their language. The people helped me a lot during my visits to different cities and I get to understand their norms and their cultures more in details. Also, I did not had the problem to differentiate in between the authentic and fake cultural experiences. 6.0. How My Travel Constitutes Socially Responsible Tourism Socially Responsible Tourism is tourism which aims to control or limit the negative impacts that is expected to have on the visited communities. I made my trip socially responsible by following these things: I started to buy from locals in order to help them to earn for their likelihoods. The people who are dependent on the tourism for their survival are always in search for the tourists to buy from them in order to maintain a sustainable level of economy. 4 Donating materials would be a positive impact while travelling and I followed this rule. I often purchased the local sweets and donate it to the children wherever I saw them. I donated some of the basic essentials to fulfil the requirements of people. Like I saw an old man shoeless, so I purchased the shoes from a local business and donate it to the old man. By purchasing the donation items from the local business would support the community both in the sense of economy and in the form of donations. I kept in mind the fact that I have to be respectful of the local spaces. Throughout my visit, I took extra care of not throwing my trash anywhere in open but in the bins. I behaved well in order to remain respectful to the people near me. I kept in mind the local norms and traditions and tried not to do anything which might be disrespectful for the people. I tried my best to behave well with every person from the sweeper of my room to the cab driver and from the hotel officials to the tourist guides and my fellow tourists. 5 Purchase answer to see full attachment Tags: thailand economic development diverse geography upland plateau Chiang Mai User generated content is uploaded by users for the purposes of learning and should be used following Studypool’s honor code & terms of service.
