Dissemination is the targeted distribution of information and intervention materials to a specific public health or clinical practice audience. Dissemination is vital in healthcare because the purpose of dissemination is to spread knowledge and the associated evidence-based interventions on a wide scale within or across geographic locations, practice settings, or social or other networks of end-users such as patients and health care providers (AHRQ, 2012).
There are different ways dissemination is possible from writing articles in journals or presenting the topic in front of higher authorities or policymakers. The writer prefers to present the change project in the American Journal of Infection Control (AJIC), a popular journal in America that handles infection-related topics. AJIC covers key topics and issues in infection control and epidemiology. Infection control professionals, including physicians, nurses, and epidemiologists, rely on AJIC for peer-reviewed articles covering clinical topics as well as original research (AJIC, 2022). The writer believes that this article reminds the health care professionals of the current infection control practices in mental health facilities and the need for a change to provide quality care to the mentally disabled population.
