Manners, J., Steinberg, A., & Shutter, L. (2017). Early management of acute cerebrovascular accident. Current opinion in critical care, 23(6), 556-560.
The article explores recent treatment modalities on stroke. Stroke requires emergent treatment to minimize dilapidation. Recent findings in ischemic stroke indicate that: therapeutic window for treatment for cerebral vessel occlusion from 4.5 hours to 6 hours, there are more surgical interventions for removing clots in large intracranial hemorrhage. In hemorrhagic stroke, intervention has remained limited to reversal of coagulopathy and hypertension.
The paper is a peer-reviewed journal article that is published under the current opinion in critical care journals. This is a national public journal that provides information relating to public care and is accredited for use. It follows a systematic review of literature to update information on advances in cerebrovascular accident. It is therefore reliable to use in seeking information on recent treatment modalities for CVA.
Stroke: Hope through research. (2021, April 23). National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke | National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. https://www.ninds.nih.gov/Disorders/Patient-Caregiver-Education/Hope-Through-Research/Stroke-Hope-Through-Research
This source provides overall information on stroke. It explains what stroke is, common implications, the different types of stroke and risk factors. It also provides extensive information on diagnosis and standard treatment modalities for both types of stroke as well as rehabilitation for patients. It ends with ongoing research on advanced treatment modalities for stroke and what an individual can do to help with stroke research.
The source is a published article under both the National Institutes of Health and National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. These national institutions are US medical research agencies that improve health and save lives through research, making information from their published articles reliable. The source comprehensively covers on stroke, borrowing from synthesized literature, making it reliable for use on general information on CVA.
Tadi, P., & Lui, F. (2020). Acute stroke (cerebrovascular accident). StatPearls. Treasure Island, FL: StatPearls Publishing.
The article covers on acute stroke for a teaching lesson. Acute stroke manifests in two forms, ischemic and hemorrhagic, and is a leading cause of death and disability. There are a multitude of etiologies that cause stroke. The article further explains the pathophysiology, features, treatment and management of stroke.
The source is a manuscript under Europe PMC. Europe PMC is an authentic source that publishes research papers in life-sciences literature. This makes its data reliable for secondary use. The works have also been borrowed by other science research institutions such as Statpearls, indicating the work is reliable.
