After collaborating with the client to assess their situation, what have you decided that they need
to do?
What strengths and skills does the client have that they can use to meet their goal?
What outside supports, services, or coordinated plans are needed to meet these goals?

maintaining hydration, restful sleep), and
o Engaging in at least one meaningful activity each day (e.g., listening to music, spending
time with family and/or friends, coloring).
Strategies/Interventions to Achieve Goals
What are you, as the counselor, going to do with your client to help them achieve the goals and
objectives? Use a theoretical perspective to develop your strategies and interventions. You may use the
same theory you applied in the case conceptualization.
Example: Assist the client in developing skills that increase the likelihood of deriving pleasure
from behavioral activation. Explore, address, and resolve underlying assumptions, beliefs, and
biases that support depression. Explore experiences from the clients past that may contribute to
current symptoms, and help the client process and resolve these feelings.
