For a different class I had to watch a TED Talk on
how Black girls are punished more in schools and
how to address it. As we talk about Feminist
theories of crime and criminality I thought this
was a great perspective of how young these
differences appear, and how they are
perpetuated by the social structures designed to
guide children away from criminality.
Overall I thought it was interesting and touched
on a lot of ideas that came up in class during our
discussion of feminism, like school dress codes,
what crimes girls get in trouble for as opposed to
boys, and the vastly different social expectations
put on women and girls from a very young age.

SOC 340: Social Deviance (2022 F… < Home My Communities The Future of Reporting Laws WEEK 3: STUDYING DEVIANCE Steven Sypkens 09/06/2022 K ??? From in class and from Constructions of Deviance we had just learned about Reporting Laws (pg. 116) and what they are, what they are used for, and the impact they have made for the betterment of people's lives. They can no doubt be considered to have had a positive impact in the United States so far. However, I'm curious as to what these reporting laws can amount to if given the chance to turn "evil". This thought came from a previous post on here called "Rhythm 0" from Amaya and how all it took was one "evil" deed to change the whole outlook on the situation. Could these laws be used in a manner that would impose a government's agenda? Let's say for instance a decision was made by the government that owning a stuffed pink elephant was extremely wrong and should be now considered as unlawful behavior. Despite me and you knowing there is nothing at all wrong with owning a stuffed animal of such description no matter who you are. There would be people who would report others. There would be those who would throw away their pink elephants in the need to conform to societies change in what is considered deviant. What does that say about the individual and their deviance of blindly following the governments laws regardless of what they might personally think about it? Would think of the Reporting Laws in the they were used like this? A5? way t CREATE12:56 1 RIGHTS SOC 340: Social Deviance (2022 F... Home / My Communities WEEK 3: STUDYING DEVIANCE To touch on feminism, I've attached a video (that I've watched several times) from the series called "Middle Ground" (by Jubilee), and in this episode they had Feminists and Men's Right's Activists coming together to participate in the discussion. All of the Feminists were women, and all of the Men's Right's Activists were men. In the video, one part that really resonated with me was when one of the Men's Right's Activist compared women to children and said that he didn't see us as equal to men; and the infantilization of women is not uncommon. This is just one reason why feminism is so important to me, because we deserve so much more. So, with that being said, I'm curious to know if any of you also feel that women are infantilized? Or if anyone else has also seen the video and has any thoughts on it, or just any thoughts about feminism in general? https://www.youtube.com/watch? v=hOUGNGWmNOk&t=762s 1 :: college-of-liberal-arts-and-sciences.yellowdig.app Zoe Harrer Last Wednesday at 7:17 PM MST (Edited Last Wednesday at 7:20 PM MST) VS FEMINISM YOUTUBE - Dec 01, 2019 1 LTE C Men's Right... Home / My Communities Feminist Criminology WEEK 3: STUDYING DEVIANCE COLTE C April Sevillabenitez Last Thursday at 10:03 PM MST K One of the most interesting concepts covered in this module was the feminist theory. Specifically feminist criminology. Feminist theories regarding crime look over the influence of gender differences in crime phenomena. I enjoyed reading how chapter ten touched upon the implications for criminal policy. For instance, the violence against women, prostitution, laws to protect against violence, and forced marriages were the big aspects that are currently being studied by criminologists. I would like to share an example I found after deeper research regarding feminist theories on crime. I came across a Ted Talk done by police officer Kim Bogucki. In this video she talks about the ways agencies controls, the police, the courts and us as a whole can become gender responsive in the criminal system I think this is a great video that helped me dig deeper into ways I can understand the criminal genic and societal reasons that led women to incarceration. I would also like to look back at today's group discussion. We talked about Ethnographic research and how we can approach it after taking into consideration all the in's and out's that come with such research. I am mentioning this because Kim is a police officer and she has a lot of resources on her side that can b CREATE plenty of information regarding the custom en cifically information about woman
