Romantic perspective of leadership can be motivating, it is an approach to leadership that tries to understand why and when we recognize and give credit. It can also be defined as a romantic view of leaders. General Electric has been a leader in innovation, they went from being known for lightbulbs and appliances to a multinational corporation. With a strong team and leadership they are accountable for every decision they make, from safety and quality to growth and profitability. There perspective is to strengthen the company with new product introductions and innovative technology to continue to lead the industries forward.
External control perspective of leadership’s can be any sort of influence from outside the company or a organization that may affect how they do business/operate. GE if focused on having the best ideas and practices, and focusing on the future. They view their people as one of there assets . With competition in the business this is one of the external controls that they cannot control. By keeping good leadership and staying innovative, they have proven they are a leader in their field.

I researched Ford Motor Company and discovered a great deal of information on the topics of the romantic view of leadership and the external control view of leadership. Some of the key events that represent the perspective of the romantic view of leadership are the founding of the company by Henry Ford in 1903, improvements in automobile innovation over time, employee retention, and company profits. In addition, some of the key events that represent the external control perspective of leadership are the survival of the company during the Great Depression, ongoing legal problems, and the company’s selling of its luxury brands: Volvo, Land Rover, Jaguar, Aston Martin, and Mercury.
Each view of leadership had a direct impact on the company in significant ways, thus resulting in the present-day, long-standing existence of the Ford Motor Company 110 years later. According to “History of Ford Motor Company” (2022), Today Ford is the largest family-owned and family-controlled company in the world. The company’s resilience through national economical hardships, as well as difficulties associated with governmental constraints at different points in history, has further influenced Ford Motor Company’s continuous growth in automobile innovation, alongside its continuous growth in annual profits and sales.
