Assignment: Required Episodes 1-6
Instructions
You will write a reflective paper that demonstrates your understanding of what was covered in
each episode of One-Day business simulation and the connections you are able to make with
respect to course theory and research required for each episode. Focus on interpreting specific
aspects of what you have learned about organization behavior at the completion of each
episode. A good starting point is to briefly identify how the episode impacted you with respect
to (managing and leading people.) The best reflective papers are those that strive to discover
something significant that the casual reader would not have noticed, and then support that
insight with appropriate readings that reflect critical thinking on your part.
STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES
1. Explain the basic principles of strategy
2. Provide detailed examples of linkages between knowledge gained in the course and real
world applications with the simulation and your future career.
Use Microsoft Word to complete your paper. Be sure to check for spelling and grammar errors.
Make sure to follow these guidelines:
Cover page
3 to 4 pages (not including cover page and references)
Double-spaced with 1 margins
References (One-Day Articles/Leveling Courses) in this reflection paper as a key
source in your understanding of Organization Behavior. Include in-text references and a
reference page for any materials you cite using APA citation format.
Assessment
The Reflection Paper Rubric: I look for the level of critical thinking you exhibited in this self-reflection and ask
the question: What is your value-add for a company? Can you address a complex situation with lots of
ambiguity and propose a solution that is grounded in quantitative and qualitative research?
Tips to help you write your paper:
1. A reflection paper is your identification of the main themes of the readings integrated with your
classroom experience and how both affect your thinking and practice. It is not a summary of course
readings or PowerPoint slides.
2. A reflection paper is your chance to add your thoughts and analysis to what you have read and
experienced.
3. A reflection paper is meant to illustrate your understanding of the material and how it affects your
ideas and possible practice in future.
4. Begin by jotting down some of the reading material and class experiences that stand out in your mind.
Decide why they stand out to you.
5. It may be helpful to use the restorative questions to generate some of your thoughts and feelings
about the c experience.
6. Using the first person singular (I), relate the readings and classes to your previous knowledge and
experience.
7. Consider if and how what you have read and learned changes your thinking and might affect your
practice in both personal and professional situations.
8. Review the readings and class notes to be sure youve included all the relevant information you can
and made all the connections you can.
9. Give your reflection paper structure with an opening paragraph, main body, and conclusion.
10. It may be helpful to write the body of the paper first by using Steps 4-7, and then decide what your
opening paragraph should say. The opening paragraph may be brief, only a sentence or two, but it
should offer some overall statement of your perspective based on what youve learned (e.g., Before I
experienced One-Day, I had never considered how organizations respond to changes in the
environment, that is, changing consumer demands and pricing.). Then you could go on to describe
which readings or class experiences affected your thinking and why. You could disagree with some of
the readings or ideas. The conclusion of your reflection may also be brief (e.g., I realize that I must
learn how to be more supportive to get the best from my team.). Or it could be uncertain (e.g., I dont
agree with everything I learned but I am going to consider using some of the practices in the future to
see if they change my working relationship with others.).

WELCOME:
Welcome to OneDay, an interactive Learning eXperience Course. To help you achieve
your best results, it is essential you read and follow this guide, and watch an
introductory video BEFORE you download the application and begin the simulation.
OVERVIEW:
OneDay is a multi-episode Interactive Learning eXperience (I-L-X) that teaches about
the concept of business strategy. In all episodes, you will play the role of Emma, the
protagonist, and a young employee of a company called North South Airlines (NSA) as she navigates through the game environment. You may gather information along
the way from various characters and other information sources, which include
articles, videos, business, cards, emails, and text messages. You will be quizzed
about concepts related to strategy, external readings, asked to prioritize what youve
learned, to make decisions about what type of strategy to implement based on your
learnings, and finally, to deliver a presentation to the CEO of your company.
GOAL:
Your goal is to choose a strategy, supporting actions and statements, and a variety of
other types of information to build an argument to present to the CEO on how to
improve the airlines success. You will gather this information throughout each
episode, and you should take advantage of reading materials, quizzes, conversations
with other characters, learning strategies, and reports. Your final score will be
influenced by how much you utilize these learning points and opportunities
throughout each episode. For example, collecting business cards, reading articles
and taking quizzes, spending time interacting with characters, and the type of
questions you ask the characters, along with your intentional selection of learnings
and strategies, will have an impact on your overall score.
GETTING STARTED:
Before going further, this is an excellent time to watch the OneDay Student
Introductory Video. This video will provide valuable information about the OneDay
episodes and how you can better navigate your way successfully through this course.

OneDay Curriculum:
OneDay has a total of seven episodes. However, you may not be accessing all seven,
but only specific episodes designated for your course. Please follow the instructions
from your professor about which specific episodes you are expected to complete.
Episode seven contains a final exam for institutions that choose to utilize the exam.
SCORING AND EPISODE FLOW:
You may play OneDay as often as you would like, and it would be beneficial to your
score to play each episode multiple times; the game allows for multiple plays. Each
time, you will build upon the learnings, strategies, and contacts you gathered during
your previous play (except for episode one; your learned information will not be
saved should you choose to replay that episode.) You are expected to learn strategic
principles and behaviors through your experiences in OneDay, and the more times
you play, the better you will learn the concepts. Each time you play, your scores will
be saved, but only your highest total score will count toward your final score.
Beware, purposely playing badly at first to show greater improvement in later
game plays may work against your final score.
Each episode has a related theme, as shown below:
EPISODE 1: ASSIGNMENT AND EXTERNAL CONTEXT
EPISODE 2: OPERATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES AND CONTSTRAINT
EPISODE 3: STRATEGIC OPTIONS AND QUANTITATIVE SUPPORT
EPISODE 4: HYPOTHESIS TESTING AND FOLLOW UP
