In an effort to curb the locust invasion pandemic in Kenya, government researchers collected a sample of locusts and measured their wing lengths as shown in the table above. This was to determine if the length of the wings are related to their lifespan. This was aimed at knowing the right stage to apply the insecticide. Since food security is a major problem in developing Nations like Kenya, The government is taking this study more serious. The Kenyan cabinet secretary for agriculture asserted that the locusts in Kenya have an average length of 41mm and hence they will die soon because 41 mm is classified as longer and old wings. With the probability that the average wing length will fall between two values being 99%. Determine the two mean values and test if the minister lied to Kenyan people. (9marks)
Question two
St. Pauls social science students community project is anticipated to make an average return of Ksh.5000 per day with the standard deviation of 500.If the returns are normally distributed, calculate the likelihood that the project will generate returns:
i. More than 6200 ( 2 marks)
ii. Less than 6000 ( 2 marks)
iii. More than 3950 ( 2 marks)
iv. More than 4800 ( 2 marks)
v. Between 4800 and 6200 ( 3 marks)
