Assignment Instructions:

We have learned the failure rate of clinical information system implementations is high. One of the ways in which to avoid project failure is alignment of information technology (IT) to the strategic plan of an organization.
The goal of HIT alignment and strategic planning is to ensure a strong and clear relationship between HIT investment decisions and the healthcare organizations overall strategies, goals, and objectives.
This assignment will allow each of you the opportunity to explore the alignment of an HIT project to the strategies, goals, and objectives of an organization.
To complete this assignment, please re-read (or read if you have not yet done so) the Case Study to be used for the group presentation in Week 6.
Complete a Project Charter document based on the information within the Case Study. Creating a Project Charter document is one of the initial tasks in the SDLC Planning Phase. It provides key information to assess alignment between the proposed HIT project and the strategic plan of an organization.   
Please include the following information in the Project Charter document:

Project Champion(s) = Name of formal or informal leader(s)
Initiation/Target Dates
Problem or Opportunity Statement = Why is this being done? An example, Delay in timely electronic completion of medication orders resulting in higher than expected medication errors cause by tardiness of medication delivery.
Objective = Must be related to the problem/opportunity statement. And example, To implement a barcode medication administration system.
Key Stakeholders = important individuals who will be impacted by the proposed changes brought about by this planned HIT implementation
Scope = project parameters (what the project does and does not entail)
Benefit(s) = what is the defined benefit(s) resulting from the deliverable(s)
Budget = total anticipated costs
