Lab 4: Body Composition
Make a graphing table and a bar graph using your % body fat measurements from
the Skinfold Calipers and the Tanita Scale. (Refer to your strength lab report
look at your handgrip graph to remind you what the graphing table and the bar
graph look like).
2. Using a minimum of two research articles, compare (how are they the same) and contrast (how are they different) the procedures for measuring body composition using (a) Bod Pod and (b) DEXA. How is each method used to measure body composition AND whaTis each specifically measuring? Provide an illustration (picture from a website) for each method.
3. Calculate your BMI—show all steps. Include the BMI Table (from a website) used to assess risk for heart disease. What is your risk based on your calculated BMI? Using at least two journal article, explain (a) why this method used more often than actual measurements of body composition and (b) why this method may not be the best estimate for health risks.
