Compare and contrast the experience of losing a child and losing a partner.
I have actuallly seen some people in my life go through both. They lost their little girl when she was 3. It was heartwrenching. Still to this day they seem to face hardships in their marriage because of that. They went to grief counseling together. They told them that most relationships will not survive the loss of a child. One thing they do have when someone doesnt that loses their spouse is one another.

Chapter 16 Dying and Bereavement
1. How does the hospice concept meet the psychological and emotional needs of the dying and their families?
Hospice can help with many needs of the dying and their families. They are able to assist in making the dying and the families to be comfortable, this includes the psychological and emotional needs. They are able to extend and offer resources, including grief counseling, as well as provide support to the family in general.
2. Compare and contrast the experience of losing a child and losing a partner.
Both experiences of losing a child and losing a partner are extremely heartbreaking. I have not experienced either and my heart hurts for those that have. I know many that have experienced both and both appear equally heartbroken. I cannot say if one is more painful than the other. I do know that if a child dies, both parents are able to grieve and possibly have the support of each other. If a partner dies, you are forced into being single and adapting to that new lifestyle without the partner you once had.
