Epicurean philosophy suggests that the goal of life is happiness. In modern day this is considered a balanced life where a person has dedicated an equal amount of time between work and leisure.
Epicurus suggested freedom from unnecessary things allows greater freedom of fear, freedom from worry, stress, depression regret, and expectations.
To live more positively, one can incorporate Epicurean beliefs into their lifestyle through decluttering their living environment and stop attaching happiness to things like status, wealth, or fame.
The Epicurean philosophy can also be applied to finances. Happiness can come from simple e.g. reading without spending a great deal of money.

It is possible to achieve happiness in many ways especially in modern times where there are abundant options for relaxation and management of stress. The Epicurean definition of leisure and happiness may be too confined.
