Physical access controls are extremely important in keeping outsiders out and insiders safe in their work environment. Not to mention, physical access controls can ensure your organization is safe from natural disasters and the data is secure in case of complete loss. This chapter discusses backups and remote computing as well.
Assessment Instructions:
For this assessment, you are going to have to create and record a video/audio lecture to me.
Scenario: You are the CIO of a mid-size security company for a non-profit organization. You are tasked to provide a presentation to the CEO (me) on the updated physical security controls you are lobbying to get in order to protect the data and employees from cyber attacks as well as natural disasters. Since your organization is located in the southern tip of Florida, you have many hurricanes to contend with, not to mention you are located in an industrial part of “Rockville.” It is not the safest area and your organization has financial records from all the big-name donors out of Miami and Tampa. Physical controls have not been touched in almost 10 years so they are in dire need of upgrades and replacements. You have a short fence and locks on the doors. Your data is kept in a locked closet. You have a front desk that is manned 50% of the time, but employees and clients can just come and go without any human interaction at the front door.
Assessment: Your presentation should be about 5-10 minutes long. Use PowerPoint or Prezi for your presentation and you can provide the audio on top of the presentation. I do not need video unless you want to add that to your presentation. Pretend like you are giving this presentation to me (CEO) and I am in the room with you!
Do not forget to cite any references you use.
